DESIGN EXPERIENCES: Hi Design Sardinia June 2019 Highlights

We can be certain that summer has finally arrived when HI-Design EMEA pops up in the office calendar. This year the annual invitation-only event took place in Forte Village, in the south of Sardinia, and Upperworth Founders and Directors Karen van Eeden & Kristy Unger were faced with no choice but to spend two days in glorious sunshine by the Mediterranean Sea….

We were blessed with perfect weather in Sardinia, and as soon as we’d registered, we delegates were encouraged by the delightful HI-Design team to make the most of the idyllic setting and switch off from the pressures of work. This was our cue to spend the afternoon relaxing in the resort’s many pools and swim in the sea - all in preparation of course, for the two days of intense meetings to come. It was also an enjoyable way to catch up with industry friends and colleagues before getting down to business.

The meetings schedule kicked off the following day and we appreciated the opportunity to discover the newest products to be launched in the hospitality sector, noting which might be considered for our current projects. The one-on-one sessions are brief and specific, ensuring that time is well managed.

Between meeting sessions, seminars provide respite; Aidan Walker’s seven principles of mindful design stood out as especially thought-provoking, while our colleague and friend Charles Leon posed the question: what’s the point of design? His presentation style was certainly intriguing and entertaining, holding the audience’s attention right to the end.

Overall it was another successful HI-Design event, a well curated mix of fun and business.
